With The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Lionsgate is getting ready to roll the popular YA franchise to the big screen in 2023. It will follow President Snow at the age of 18, during the 10th Hunger Games, long before he was the tyrannical leader of Panem. As we anticipate the release of the under-wraps production, let’s get into the stacked cast involved.

Francis Lawrence is the lead author of the first Hunger Games sequel The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes (Gary Ross was the director of the original film). The script based on Suzanne Collins’bestselling novel was written by Michael Arndt and Michael Lesslie in 2015. Here’s the official cast list so far:

Tom Blyth

Tom Blyth, who plays Coriolanus Snow in the 10th annual Hunger Games prequel, will be named director of hell. He has reportedly been appointed to the District 12 tribute by Blyth, who is a relatively new actor, but he has now played the titular character in Billy The Kid, along with a recent guest in The Gilded Age and Benediction.

Rachel Zegler

Lucy Gray Baird, the lead tribute to Snow, is an extroverted tribute to Zegler who in turn starts singing on the Capitol during the games. Zegler recently started in Hollywood in a big way with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story as Maria. In the near future, she will play Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Disney’s live-action Snow White.

Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer has played Jules on Euphoria, who was previously a character in the Mockingjay book and film. Tigris is 21 with aspirations for fashion, which as we know will lead her to become a designer in the games like Cinna was to Katniss. Schafer is also involved in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, who is also a central character in the HBO series.

Jason Schwartzman

Jason Schwartzman has been revealed to be playing Lucretius Lucky Flickerman in the Hunger Games prequel, who is an ancestor to Stanley Tucci’s Caesar Flickerman later on. In the book, Lucky is a weathercaster who will be interviewing for the 10th Hunger Games interview. Schwartzman is well known for often appearing in Wes Anderson films like Rushmore and The Grand Budapest Hotel, but he has also played a role in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Josh Andres Rivera

Josh Andres Rivera, who played Chino in the musical adaptation, will play Sejanus Plinth, a Capitol citizen formerly of District 2, a close friend of Coriolanus Snow and mentor to the District 2 tribute in the Games. In the Games, Rivera was the first actor to play West Side Story, but the actor will play in an upcoming film called Cat Person, which features Emilia Jones and Successions.

Ashley Liao

Ashley Liaos Clemensia Dovecote, a friend to District 11, may be familiar to you from her work in Fuller House as Lola Wong, Disney+s Secret Society of Second-Born Royals as Princess Eleanor, and Apple TV+s Physical as Simone.

Laurel Marsden

If you have been following Ms. Marvel’s Disney+ series, Marsden will play Mayfair Lipp, the daughter of the District 12 mayor, who has a strong hand in Lucy becoming a star at the 10th Hunger Games.

Zoe Renee

Zoe Renee, who starred in the 2018 documentary festival darling Jinn, will play Lysistrata Vickers, a mentor to the other District 12 tribute in the 10th annual Hunger Games. Lysistrata is a resident of the Capitol and mentors Jessup Diggs, one of the few mentors to develop a positive connection with her.

Nick Benson

Nick Benson will play Jessup Diggs in the other District 12 scenes. Prior to being chosen to be The Hunger Games, Jessup is an associate of Lucy Gray Baird as they enter the games. Benson will appear in the Netflix series Boo, Bitch, and has produced a play in Big Shot.

Aamer Husain

Aamer Husain, who plays Felix Ravinstill, the other District 11 mentor, was enlisted by Lionsgate for a female tribute. Felix is also President Ravinstill, who was the leader of Panem during the events of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The only good thing about Aamer Husain so far is in a single episode of Canadian police drama Hudson & Rex.

Luna Steeples

Dill, who hails from District 11, will be played by Luna Steeples in the first episode of The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes, which she previously appeared in the 2017 film Overdue.

Lilly Cooper

Arachne Crane is playing one mentor to a tribute from District 10 and she is a similar actress known as Lilly Cooper. Cooper has so far only appeared in two episodes of The Witcher as Murta. Brandy is also interesting to note that she was likely related to Seneca Crane, who was the head game maker during the 74th Hunger Games, where Katniss and Peeta were tributes.

Kaitlyn Akinpelumi

Kaitlyn Akinpelumi will play Domita Whimsiwick, a district 10 mentor who is appointed to the male tribute Tanner. She is a ‘dairy heiress in the book, giving her extensive knowledge on livestock and useful in the games. Akinpelumi previously found her first role in the rom-com How To Talk To Girls At Parties.

Knox Gibson

Knox Gibson, a new Netflix actress who has only starred in a dramatic 2022 short, Forgive Us Our Trespasses, is playing one of Bobbin’s district 8s tributes. In the 10th Hunger Games, Bobbin explains five different methods to kill someone with a sewing needle during his interviews. So yeah, expect intensity from this tribute.

Sofia Sanchez

Sofia Sanchez will play Woven in the 10th Hunger Games, which included a video entitled Down Syndrome is Not Scary, as well as having her adopting book inspired by two children’s books You Are Enough and You Are Loved. Sanchez will play Wovey, who is mentored by Hilarius Heavensbee and relative to Plutarch Heavensbee.

Ayomide Adegun

Pliny Pup Harrington, a fresh mentor, is playing him this time for District 7. In the book, Pup is the son of a naval commander, but unlike his father, he proves to be a slob who also does not prepare his tribute. Along with this, hell play a young Charon in the John Wick spinoff series The Continental.

Amelie Hoeferle

In the 10th Hunger Games, Amelie Hoeferle will play Vipsania Sickle, a mentor to a male tribute named Treech. Vipsania has an aunt at the Capitols academy, Agrippina Sickle, who is a professor and is described as inheriting her desire for competition. Hoeferle is also a new actress who has yet to play a movie or television role; however, she has starred in a few shorts.

Hiroke Berrecloth

Hiroke Berrecloth will play Vipsanias’ tribute from District 7, Treech, who continues to be a powerful opponent to Lucy throughout the games. Berrecloth’s first major acting credit is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Max Raphael

Max Raphael, who has starred in Disney+s Black Beauty, Schools Out Forever, and Slaughterhouse Rulez, will play Festus Creed, a district 4s Coral mentor. In the book, Festus is a long-time schoolmate of Snow, and he raised some of his old bills.

Mackenzie Lansing

Mackenzie Lansing, who recently played Brianna Delrasso in the HBO hit series Mare of Easttown, is playing Festus. Coral is becoming one of the strongest tributes in the 10th Hunger Games, demonstrating apt capabilities with a trident and forming alliances with a couple of other tributes.

Jerome Lance

Marcus, who plays Jerome Lance in District 2, is expected to attend Sejanus’ tribute. Sejanus used to live in his district before moving to the Capitol. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is Lance’s first Hollywood acting accolade.
